Passive Voice of Modals in Hindi : इस पोस्ट में मैं Active & Passive voice of modals के बारे में बताऊंगा। Modals के active तथा passive sentence को अंग्रेजी तथा हिंदी दोनों में समझाया है। बहुत से grammar books में आपको सिर्फ english sentence ही मिलेंगे। Sentence का hindi translation नहीं मिलेगा।

Modals sentences को active से passive वाक्य में change करना बहुत ही आसान है परंतु आपको ऐसे sentence का हिंदी मतलब भी पता होना चाहिए ।

Modals क्या है ? What is Modals in Hindi

Modals एक ऐसे helping verb है जिसका इस्तेमाल main verb (मुख्य क्रिया) के साथ ability (समर्थता), possibility (संभावना), Certainity (निश्चितता), permission और necessity व्यक्त करने के लिए किया जाता है।

Shall, will, can, could, may , might, should, would, must, ought to, has to, have to, used to इत्यादि modal auxiliaries है। Passive voice में इन modals के बाद ‘be‘ का इस्तेमाल होता है और main verb में V3 का। आगे इसके बारे में विस्तार से जानते है।

Active Voice of Modals Helping Verb with Structure ( in english & hindi)

Modal : Can/May

कर्ता + कर्म + धातु + सकता हूँ/सकती हूँ
 मैं  पत्र  लिख सकता हूँ।
 वह  बच्चे को  पढ़ा सकती है।
Subject + can + V1 + object
 I  can  write  a letter.
She  can  teach  the children.

Modal : Could

कर्ता + कर्म + धातु + सका/सकी/सके
 वह  आम  खा सका।
 तुम  पत्र  लिख सके।
Subject + could + V1 + object
 I  could  eat  a mango.
You  could  write  a letter.

Modal : May/Might

 कर्ता + कर्म + शायद + धातु + आ + सकता है /सकती है..Or, धातु + आ + एगी/एगा/एंगे
 वह  तुम्हें  शायद  पढ़ा सकती है।
 वह  तुम्हें  शायद  पढ़ाएगी।
Subject + may/might + V + object
 She  may/might  teach  you.

Modal : Should/Ought to

 कर्ता + कर्म + धातु + ना/नी + चाहिए
 मुझे  पत्र  लिखना चाहिए।
 हमें  अपने माता-पिता का  कहना मानना चाहिए।
Subject + should / ought to + V object
 I  should  write  a   letter.
 We  ought to  obey  our   parents.

Modal : Must

 कर्ता + कर्म + अवश्य/जरूर + धातु + ना + चाहिए Or, धातु + ऊँगा/एगा/…
 मुझे  तुम्हें  जरूर पीटना चाहिए।
मैं तुम्हें जरूर पीटूँगा।
 Subject + must + V + object
 I  must  beat  you.

Passive Voice of Modals Helping Verb with Structure (in hindi & english)

Modal : Can/May

 कर्ता + कर्म द्वारा + धातु + आ/ई/ए + जा सकता/सकती/सकते है
 पत्र  मेरे द्वारा  लिखा जा सकता है ।
 बच्चे  उसके द्वारा  पढ़ाया जा सकता है।
Subject + can be/may be + V by + object
 A letter can be/may  be  written  by me.
 Children can be/may be  taught  by her.

Modal : Could

 कर्ता + कर्म द्वारा + धातु + आ + जा सका
 आम  उसके द्वारा  खाया जा सका ।
 पत्र  तुम्हारे द्वारा  लिखा जा सका।
Subject + could be + V by + object
 A   mango  could be  eaten  by him.
 A letter  could be  written  by you.

Modal : May/Might

 कर्ता + कर्म द्वारा + शायद + धातु + आ/ई + जा सकता/सकती है Or, धातु + आ/ई + जाएगा/जाएगी
 तुम्हें  उसके   द्वारा  शायद  पढ़ाया जा सकता है।
 तुम्हें  उसके   द्वारा  शायद  पढ़ाया जाएगा।
 Subject + may be/might be + V by + object
 You  may be/might be  taught  by her.

Modal : Should/Ought to

 कर्ता + कर्म द्वारा + धातु + आ + जाना चाहिए
 पत्र  मेरे द्वारा  लिखा जाना चाहिए।
 अपने माता-पिता   का कहना  हमारे   द्वारा  माना जाना चाहिए ।
 Subject + should be/ought to be + V by + object
 A letter  should be  written  by me.
 Our   parents  ought to be  obeyed  by us.

Modal : Must

 कर्ता + कर्म द्वारा +  जरूर + धातु + आ/ई + जाना चाहिए Or, धातु + आ/ई + जाएगा/जाएगी
 तुम्हें  मेरे द्वारा  जरूर  पीटा जाना चाहिए।
 तुम्हें  मेरे द्वार  जरूर  पीटा जाएगा।
 Subject + must be + V by + object
 You  must be  beaten  by me.

Might Might be
He might beat you. You might be beaten by him.
He might not beat you. You might not be beaten by him.
Might he beat you ? Might you be beaten by him ?
Could Could be
He could do this work. This work could be done by him.
He could not do this work. This work could not be done by him.
Could he do this work ? Could this work be done by him ?
Should Should be
We should help the poor. The poor should be helped.
We should not help the poor. The poor should not be helped.
Should we help the poor ? Should the poor be helped ?
Ought to Ought to be
You ought to respect the priest. The priest ought to be respected.
You ought not to respect the priest. The priest ought not to be respected.
Must Must be
You must help her. She must be helped by you.
You must not help her. She must not be helped by you.
Must you help her ? Must she be helped by you ?
Would Would be
I would help you. You would be helped by me.
I would not help you. You would not be helped by me.
Would I help you ? Would you be helped by me ?
Have to Have to be
I have to play football. Football has to be played by me.
I have not to play football. Football has not to be played by me.
Used to Used to be, Use to be
I used to read book. Book used to be read by me.
I did not use to read book. Book did not use to be read by me.
Did I use to read book ? Did book use to be read by me ?

Excercise :

Change the following sentences into passive voice :
  1. I can do this work
  2. He could do this work.
  3. I shall play football.
  4. They could solve the problem.
  5. Nobody can easily break this stick.
  6. She will forget me.
  7. Everyone can break it.
  8. I may win the race.
  9. You may defeat him.
  10. She would do it.
  11. We must obey the traffic rules.
  12. She must not pluck flowers.
  13. Students should follow the rules of grammar.
  14. We shall look into it.
  15. None can challenge me.

Answer :

  1. This work can be done by me.
  2. This work could be done by him.
  3. Football will be played by me.
  4. The problem could be solved by them.
  5. This stick cannot be broken.
  6. I shall be forgotten by her.
  7. It can be broken by everyone.
  8. The race may be won by me.
  9. He may be defeated by you.
  10. It would be done by her.
  11. The traffic rules must be obeyed.
  12. Flowers must not be plucked by her.
  13. The rules of grammar should be followed by students.
  14. It will be looked into by us.
  15. I cannot be challenged.
